Last Monday May 31st as I was driving back home I heard the screeching of an eagle. I have lived 18 years in this neighborhood and never seen one of those. I was able to identify it only because a few weeks earlier I did a search on eagles and found a web site with the eagle's call recorded. It took me a few seconds to realize that it was not a recording and that it was the sound of an eagle. I did not expect it to be that loud and clear. As I listened to it it seemed that everything around stood still. I felt overwhelmed once I identified what I was hearing and the fear of the Lord filled me. There was something to it that I could not put into words but that somehow I "knew" was more than just another bird call. No understanding was given to me at that time but a sense of love and respect unto the Lord filled me.

Later on the week little by little things were being brought to my understanding. We get all exited about eagles but few recognize them for what they are prophetically. If it is true that their main source of food is not carrion, they do feed on it. They clean dead flesh from the face of the earth but more than that, they feed on flesh that is alive hunting or fishing. Yes, they eat fish too.

In the scriptures, eagles stands for strength Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.

also for speed
Lam 4:19 Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

2Sa 1:23 Saul and Jonathan [were] lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.

Jer 4:13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots [shall be] as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.

as judgment agents
Mat 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Lam 4:19 Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

Luk 17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body [is], thither will the eagles be gathered together.

Pro 30:17 The eye [that] mocketh at [his] father, and despiseth to obey [his] mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

Hsa 8:1 [Set] the trumpet to thy mouth. [He shall come] as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.

In Deuteronomy 39:9-13 we find an interesting use of the eagle type

For the LORD'S portion [is] his people; Jacob [is] the lot of his inheritance He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: [So] the LORD alone did lead him, and [there was] no strange god with him.

He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;

Those verses are encouraging ones.So the instrument of judgment can also become a sheltering defender that teaches us to master our high (exalted as in pride) places. The one who learns so, will eat of the increase of the fields. You eat what you own, so it sounds like they will be given the earth and they will feed of it doesn't it? (Psalm 37:11; Mat 5:5; Psalm 25:12-13)

Also to suck honey from the rock. This speaks to me of El Shaddai and His nursing benevolent heart towards us. To suck honey, is to gather sweetness. From the rock that is Christ our way, denying ourselves as He did, embracing our cross as He did, and following Him. That through all these hardships we might find the sweetness of His presence in all. So much for the peaches and cream gospel. Good news are not easy news if you know what I mean.

Honey out of the rock speaks to me of that other verse in Isaiah 12:3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. The rock that exudes honey to be sucked speaks to me of the suffering Christ. He who himself though He was a son learned obedience by the thing which he suffered. For he suffered much but not only suffered for He lived his life under that expectation as something fervently desired by Him until it was achieved, completed. He takes what is hard and embrace it in the beauty of His love until it exudes the honey of His goodness and His presence that ministers all consolations. Honey also heals.

Oil out of the flinty rock speaks to me that we, his disciples also learn to spring deeper into the life of the Spirit (oil) out of the things we face for Him, for Him and with Him since He never leaves us or forsakes us. Flinty rock, not only hard but flinty ready to cut to heart.

Lets see flint Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary.

Flint abounds in all the plains and valleys of the wilderness of the forty years' wanderings. In Isa. 50:7 and Ezek. 3:9 the expressions, where the word is used, means that the "Messiah would be firm and resolute amidst all contempt and scorn which he would meet; that he had made up his mind to endure it, and would not shrink from any kind or degree of suffering which would be necessary to accomplish the great work in which he was engaged." (Comp. Ezek. 3:8, 9.) The words "like a flint" are used with reference to the hoofs of horses (Isa.5:28).

So what am I to understand from this? That as He is set steadfast to complete His purpose in us so we are transformed in Him to be what  He created us to be. Through suffering we learn the blessing of obedience that brings a deeper communion in the life of the Spirit, as He and He alone purges and purify us. This is the flint that yields oil.

When the eagle clutches its prey, he cannot release it. Its talon locks up and can't be opened until the bird lands. To me that speaks of steadfastness, the perseverance of the Lord regarding His purpose in us. In Deuteronomy 39 the Lord speaks through the eagle to convey what is His heart for Jacob. Through the eagle figure He paints a picture of His determination and final purpose.

Yes there is hope in Isa 40:31 (But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.)but there is also judgment entailed in the type of the eagle.

It doesn't take an old and wise eagle to punish those who mock their fathers and despise to obey their mothers. The baby eagle eat their eyes. (Prov 30:17) What is written here? Wasn't it written in the 10 commandments, where only one was with a promise, and that one was the honoring of parents? I think that way of speaking is an underlining and highlight to what is said. We must become one that honors Him. But not only that, the ministry of Elijah is a ministry of first reconciliation and gathering together for He turned the hearts of the children to their fathers and vice-versa. For it is unity that He will command first. Unity not uniformity for the call is a call to love and esteem others higher than ourselves. That, we have to learn from birth and the first one to try us in here are our parents and our last ones our children. We are called to honor them regardless of their imperfections and we then learn that honoring is based more on acceptance than on merits. That works against the natural mind of having to perform and prove constantly. Then  with our children we learn unconditional love and to give regardless of what is received seeking always the best for that other one. From these experiences, we should be able to pour obedience unto this unity and love unto Messiah's body. Again the eagle feds on flesh in this one. We seem not to understand that family and family of faith are destined to become the same.

Let me then, try to resume

I heard an eagle over the city were I live and it reminded me that Abba sits on heaven and that righteousness is with Him. Reverence was stirred in me for I remembered our condition before Him, hope too, since He has dealt with sin but most of all, that the fullness of times is at hand. For the prophetic cry is about to change as it is renewed to express the intention of His heart. That is also His doing.

We stand at the door of time for the finals events and even within the threshold. The Lord speaks but few heed him because the hardness of heart affect the hearing. We chose what we want to hear and even then, what we want to believe. Instead of listening we sift things and choose what validates our preconceptions. But He cries with the voice of eagle upon us and bids us hear His call. His voice slows down time and brings all things to a stand still and yet we keep on going esteeming it all as background noise. How long will He plead?

The Lord extends His wings to the east and to the west covering the vast expanse of space at once. He who posses all, calls while there is still daylight. What will be the answer to His call?

Many are waiting to shout the heroic gospel from the rooftops, and in the market place to preach it. Many wait formed as a troop to jump the wall and take the cities. Many march up and down waiting for the walls to fall down. Are we too busy to listen even now? How can we jump on walls moving as one, if we do not learn to listen and obey together what He commands?

Set yourself quickly to listen for if He calls with a voice of eagle it shall swiftly come to pass. Listen and heed the heart that cries, reaching out unto His children, to turn their hearts to Him. Who are you before Him? Don't you know that were you stand many stood before you to fall? Why do you think yourselves so different or stronger that you may never do as they had done? Was it not that, the place from which Peter was shaken? Do you believe you love the Lord more than he did? Have you been pressed fearing for your life in the midst of a mob to deny him? What do you know? How have you resisted for the love of Him?

Listen to Him and take off competition and vanity. Deny yourselves and learn from Him. Become real that He may dwell again among us, fHe is coming and how should He come to you? In the fires of love to dwell among us, or in the fires of judgment to purify His dwelling?

Who has heard the report and to whom the arm of Yah has been revealed? Because you do not see,you stand in darkness, mesmerized by the light of your own fire. Turn unto Him for even if He wounds you, He shall do it for healing.

Your servant in His love;

Let us be glad and rejoice,
and give honour to Him: for
the marriage of the Lamb is come
and His wife hath made herself ready
...Revelation 19:7.
