“Behold You desire truth in the inwards parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.
Psalm 51:6Blessed be the Lord, our God whose faithfulness never fails. As I was praying in the House of Prayer this psalm was quickened and I started to pray it under a “new” light. But that light is not new, as a matter of fact, I think that is exactly what David was thinking and seeing when he wrote it. Right after his sin was unveiled and he himself was confronted with the counterfeit within.
The Lord He has said to us: “Be holy for I am holy.” And what is it that we have understood? Isn't it so, that it became an open way for the works of man? (and I am not talking the ones that are from faith) For faith sanctifies all that comes through it. That is why without faith it is impossible to please God. But the rule of man have taken slowly the place of the rule of the Spirit among us. The end product is the product of the blind. Unable to see beyond appearances
David was confronted with it. David a sincere lover of the Lord, he was confronted with the counterfeit in him, the hypocrisy we all carry within. What make us be one way before people and another when alone. What makes us be one way before people to receive from them the approval we need from God. But who was deceived here, in the situation David was caught? Certainly it was not the Lord, for His prophet came and spoke truth unto the servant of the Lord, David. And a painful truth that cost him the very life of his baby boy. But also a truth that set the servant of the Lord free to become real, to become true.
He speaks: "Behold you desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part Your will make me to know wisdom." He found that to be the king the Lord ordained him to be, it has to be worked from the inside out. David also found something interesting: wisdom was granted, wisdom was found from the hand of the Lord when a heart is opened before Him and pleads to be made true, real. He found it because he saw the foolishness of the way he walk till that moment of confronting truth.
Who are those that fear coming into the light where our deeds are exposed? John says:
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.John 3:19-21
Fear, once more, signal in us the need for perfection. And who is the one who perfects us, if not His Holy Spirit Of Truth and Life? But fear grab a hold to keep in darkness, away from the deliverance the Light Of Truth works in our lives. So then, what should we think about David?
When he was in darkness and his sin remain concealed, what was happening there? Was the experience a painful one? I am sure it was. Not only his sin was uncovered but exposed for ever in the Word of God as recorded in the Bible. Never the less he says that the result of having, of embracing truth in the inward parts brought Wisdom revealed by the Most High. He makes us known wisdom. What is this that he saw as wisdom?
Plain and simple, life and life more abundant, deliverance from the fear that kept him bound to a role and the receiving of a living relationship with the Almighty in whose love and acceptance, the concealing of one’s faults is foolishness. Is like you do not want to eat because you do not want to gain a pound and then you die of hunger. He saw that to embrace truth in the inward parts was wise, was good for man.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” (v.10)
We are the ones who have false expectations, we are the ones who grow disillusioned when we see how short we fall from the mark. Then we want to hide it, but from who is it hidden if not from ourselves, for God knows all and sees and discern the things deep within us. What does He see in the inward parts? Well, here I read that He desires to see;and it is truth in there.
If we could realize how deeply runs our defilement , if we would be willing to see, we would understand that defilement is everywhere His light is not allowed to come. Defilement is then like the sin of Achan hidden in the camp and defiling it. We become , all in us becomes a counterfeit, a pretense, a copycat.
There is deliverance in the embrace of truth, in the confession of sins, and not only deliverance but healing and peace like a river, when we rest from trying to make impressions that “last” in others, and sometimes even in arrogant blindness, in God.
I think that when David recognized His sin, confessed it he found a relief he knew he did not deserved. He found the measure of God’s acceptance of him in truth. And that acceptance, he found it to be good, so good he said: “You have made me to know wisdom… as he understood the foolishness of his ways.
“And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom…”
Let's see Mary. She trusts the Lord and submits in love to His heart. The first things spoken by her after the annunciation are in Luke 1:46-53 they are what came to be known as the magnificat. What is spoken there about being true, being real? Look into this… from the lips of a girl who trusted God so much, she became willing to risk being exposed as promiscuous and be stoned, according to the law. Is not that the anti-type of what we are talking here? I think it is in every angle and in every way. How many of us would be willing to pass through that fire? But then why is it that truth remains limited within us? Let's see what was shown to her through what she declares about truth in the inward parts:
“And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imaginations of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
And the rich He has sent away empty….”Jesus said: Seek the truth and the truth shall set you free. We seek the truth, and the first thing His truth will do for us is make us real, true. In it (Him), we find mercy, love, compassion, acceptance in Christ and provision to what is needed in our lives to become as He is.
That should be enough to help us learn to love truth in the inward parts as He does.That should be enough to motivate us to pursue His will in us from the inside out.
Unto those who may foolishly chose to remain in darkness, there is also something reserved for them. For it is the pride of our flesh that presents trouble unto us, to humble ourselves and accept His healing truth in our inwards parts, pride working through fear. Of those Mary found the Lord doing this:
He has shown His strength with His arm;
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put the mighty from their thrones,”And He will pull the mighty down from their thrones of exaltation in which they by their strength have placed themselves. The very places in which they feel secure and safe, for nobody knows the things they hide. They hide for their own destruction. It all will become like a house of cards falling down.
We have sinned before the Lord and against Him in His holy things, and defile them with the pride of our flesh. But it is written that without holiness no one shall see the Lord. And it will be so . For in one day and in one hour the pride of man will brought down under His outstretched arm. The Lord who can raise a nation in one day, can abolish one as fast too. But there is wisdom in Him, and that wisdom speaks unto us life. Choose life and not death. Seek truth in the inward parts for that has been His desire for us. For us, ok? For us. Because it is not for His sake but for our sake, benefit, well being, good. Embrace truth and cry unto Him as David once did:
“Create in me a pure heart!”
Because ours is not, it is defile to its core and deception is all there is. I myself can not discern between true and what is not anymore, but Your Word which is Truth, is sharper than a double edge sword and can discern the hidden things in me, separating them, the holy from the profane. Give us Your truth to make us true. Deliver us from the worship of man and the ruling of its flesh totally carnally minded and opposed to You, even if it comes dressed in spirituality. Deliver us!
I tell you, you shall be free if you will cry unto Him like this, because it is His will for you that you live.
Your servant in His love;
