JN472-1. TYPICALLY GOD: Revival on Fiji also revives coral reefs Jack Dennison of CitiReach International joined George Otis, the producer of the Transformations video, on a trip to the Fiji Islands. Over the past few years Fiji has known a strong revival. Dennison reports: "The President, Prime Minister, and many top government officials have become deeply committed Christians and have led the way in calling the Church to repentance and rededicating the nation to God. Local Church leaders describe how even the military who led the 2000 coup, and are now imprisoned, have turned to Christ for forgiveness. In Suva, where many of the military leaders are jailed local leaders describe the 'roaring sounds of worship' that fill the streets from inside the prison as these former leaders worship Jesus in a spirit of reconciliation and hope for their nation's future. "One of the most noted phenomena of the Fijian revival is God's miraculous regenerative power over nature. Coral reefs are being regenerated following decades of disintegration. Teeming schools of fish are returning to local seas and to fresh water streams. Schools of crab are walking up onto beaches after being absent for scores of years. Fruit is growing on trees and vine where it hasn't for years, and other such signs are occurring on many of the Fijian Islands." Source: Joel News --- JN472-2. PRAYER FOCUS: Transformation in Mongolia Two weeks ago a national prayer initiative was launched in Mongolia, reports John Robb of the International Prayer Council. Around 200 Christian leaders from all the denominations and across the country gathered for three days of united prayer for the transformation of their country. Let's stand with them in prayer for: 1. A deep and real political, social and cultural transformation in the country that will start with the Christian community. 2. Oppressions and strongholds broken. There has been a significant revival of Tibetan Buddhism and the worship of Genghis Khan, the brilliant but ruthless Mongol emperor of the past that grips political leaders and much of the society along with many other spiritual beings that the people fear and try to placate in worship. Pray that the power of these false gods will be broken over the society and these deceiving spirits driven out of the land. 3. Unity of the churches with a new day of cooperation in mission for the leaders and believers (about 20,000 in a population of 2.6 million). 4. Development of a united prayer network and movement of prayer throughout the nation, bringing renewal and revival to the church. Source: IPC, World Vision --- JN472-3. NEWS: Three months of continual prayer in Spain Youth movement Contra Corriente just launched three months of continual prayer for Spain. This is unprecedented in Spanish history in that it is being driven by the young people and comes in the wake of the recent terror attacks on trains in Madrid which have left the nation in mourning and even replaced the government in a single week. Pete Greig, leader of 24-7prayer, challenged the 1200 delegates at a Contra Corriente meeting to 'stand in the gap' for the nation at this critical time, and almost every person stood in response. He spoke with 201 candles burning - representing the number of lives lost in the bombings. "This is not a game," he said. "The pain is real. The terror is real. But so is our God and the power he has given us in prayer." Source: 24-7prayer.com --- JN472-4. RESOURCE: Cities under God's glory In the early eighties, God spoke to Canadian revivalist Charlie Robinson about a powerful move of His Spirit that would occur in Abbotsford, British Columbia. He received angelic visitations, visions and powerful heavenly experiences over a period of about eighteen months. He was so moved by these experiences, that he decided to walk the streets and command the demonic principalities to 'come down and leave the city'. But God showed him that this was not the way to go about it, and led him on a journey of discovering the power of prophetic prayer and decrees. In this article Robinson vividly describes how step-by-step his city has come 'under God's glory', and this process is still going on. It wasn't by reading books on revival and applying the principles and strategies of well-known revivalists. God pointed him to three vital keys that many believers tend to overlook: loving unity, the wisdom of God and individual authority limits.
